Hugo Manuel Brito Águas. Completed his PhD in Materials Engineering in 2005 by Faculty of Science and Technology of NOVA University of Lisbon (FCT-NOVA). He is an Associate Professor at the Materials Science Department of FCT-NOVA and a Permanent Researcher at the Materials Research Centre of Institute of Nanostructures Nanomodelling and Nanofabrication (CENIMAT/I3N). Works in the area (s) of Engineering Sciences and Technologies with an emphasis on Nanotechnology, Nanomaterials, Coatings and Films. In its Ciência Vitae curriculum, the most frequent terms in the context of scientific, technological and artistic-cultural production are: Silicon; Amorphous silicon solar cells; PECVD; Angular response of light trapping; Photonic-structured transparent electrodes; Thin film photovoltaics; Wave-optical light management; Ag micro-grid; Multilayer thin film; Transparent conductive electrodes; four-terminal double-junction solar cells; light trapping; perovskite; Si tandems; transparent contacts; optoelectronics; Self-cleaned Solar Cells with Super-Hydrophobic; Surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS); Microfluidics; Nano droplet generator; paper-based substrates; Photonic Nano-structures; plasmonics; DNA biosensor; SU-8. Concerning Photovoltaics, he was the Institution Responsible for the European project, APOLO, dealing with flexible Perovskite solar cells, incorporating photonic elements to reduce their thickness and increase their efficiency. Besides, his research activities have granted him so far, a total of 194 published papers, with over 5600 citations and H factor of 42 (source Google Scholar), and 13 Research projects where he was the Principal Investigator (PI) or Institution Responsible (IR) with a financing of more than 2 500 000 €. He has been also involved in teaching and managing activities inside the Materials Science Department. Since he started lecturing, he has taught more than 20 different disciplines such as Materials for Energy; Thin Film Processes; Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology; Processing of Materials for Electronics; Biossensors; Materials Characterization Techniques, etc. He's the past coordinator of the Materials for Electronics, Optoelectronics and Nanotechnology (MEON) sector in the Materials Science department (2010-2019), and the Coordinator of the Integrated Master Course in Micro and Nanotechnologies (MIEMN) since 2015. He was the responsible for conducting the process that gave the MIEMN course the EURACE certificate in 2017.
