Maria João Valente has a degree in Biochemistry (FCUP/ICBAS, UP), a Master's (2008/10) and PhD Degree (2013/2017) in Toxicology (FFUP, UP). She was a Postdoc Fellow at the Drug Targets and Biomarkers Group, at UCIBIO, from 2017 to 2021, and she is currently a Postdoc Researcher at the National Food Institute, at Danmarks Tekniske Universitet. She published 31 articles in highly ranked peer reviewed journals (Scopus h-index: 16; over 1000 citations), 13 of which as a first and/or corresponding author, and one as last author; 1 book chapter; 43 Conference abstracts published in indexed journals; and has received 2 scientific awards at international Congresses. She is currently co-supervising 2 PhD students, and has successfully supervised 5 MSc/BSc students. She integrated 4 projects, 1 as a Research Fellow, 1 as a PhD Student Fellow, and 2 as Postdoctoral Fellow. She works in the areas of Biological and Health Sciences with emphasis on Toxicology, Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. Furthermore, she taught 3 Curricular Units of a graduate programs as an Invited Professor at private Universities in 2017/2018 and 2021/2022, she was an Invited Assistant at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto in 2021/2022, and during her PhD studies she assisted several laboratorial modules of Curricular Units within PhD and MSc programs also at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Porto. She has seek continuous scientific training by completing courses on different fields, including an advanced course on Laboratory Animal Science for FELASA accreditation (category C), an intensive course on Biostatistics, a training course on in vitro models for compound screening, and an educational train-the-trainer course within the ERASMUS+ Programme, for learning how to work with online platforms for scientific dissemination.
