Dr. Ursula Gonzales-Barron, a Peruvian-Irish national, is a Food Engineer (Hns) with a PhD in Biosystems Engineering from University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland. She was a Senior Researcher at UCD, and is currently a Senior Investigator at CIMO Mountain Research Centre, Polytechnic Institute of Braganza, Portugal. She leads the reputed "Food Quality and Safety Modelling" (FSQA) research team made up of 12 members. Her current research focuses on predictive microbiology, food bio-intervention strategies, meta-analysis and Bayesian statistics. She is also a Visiting Professor at the National Agricultural University La Molina, Peru. She has published >160 peer-reviewed articles; has presented at over 50 international conferences; has lectured at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Portugal, Ireland and Peru; has supervised over 20 postgraduate students; and has organised multiple international workshops/seminars and conferences. She currently holds an H-index >40. She acts as Editor of the International Journal of Food Microbiology; and takes part in the Editorial Boards of the journals Microbial Risk Analysis, Food Research International and open-access MDPI Foods. Dr. Gonzales-Barron is very fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish. Successfully tackling major challenges, project management and leadership, and capacity to work under pressure and in a multidisciplinary environment are her key assets.
