BSc Chemistry and Biochemistry from the universities of Burgos and Salamanca, respectively. I received my Ph.D. from the University of Burgos in 2009 for a work developed at the Group of Bioinspired Materials (Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid, CSIC). Later I joined the Recombinant Protein Production Group at NUI Galway as IRSCET postdoctoral fellow. Since 2014 I have been working at the Surface Science Group at TEMA (Centre for Mechanical Technology and Automation), University of Aveiro. My research interest spans over multidisciplinary fields in nanostructured materials, surface science, wet chemistry, biomaterials, microbiology and biotechnology. * Surfaces, interfaces, thin films and coatings * Structural and electronic properties of nanostructures on surfaces * 2D materials such as graphene, graphene oxide, reduced graphene oxide, hexagonal Boron Nitride (h-BN) and Transition Metal Dichalcogenides (MoS2, WS2) and their functionalization * Devices based on functionalized surfaces: supercapacitors, solar cells, catalysts, sensors During the last 5 years I publish several high impact factor papers in peer reviewed international journal, including: Applied Materials Today, International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, Journal of Physical Chemistry C, Nanomaterials, Ecotoxicology and Environmental Safety, Carbon, Journal of Materials Chemistry B and ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces. Experimental techniques: Materials characterization: XPS, UPS, AES, SEM, TEM, FT-IR, UV-Vis, XRD, ARAMIS. Molecular biology techniques: cloning, protein expression, purification, enzyme immunoassays. Use of specialized XPS data processing software Prodigy (for controlling multitechnique XPS system of TEMA), and data analysis: CasaXPS, XPS peak, Igor, Origin Writing of scientific manuscripts Mentoring of students in the laboratory work
