Dulce Oliveira completed her Doctorate in Biomedical Engineering in 2016 at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) and earned her MSc in Biomedical Engineering in 2008 from the University of Minho. She is an Invited Assistant Professor at FEUP and a Researcher at the Institute of Science and Innovation in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (INEGI). She has published 34 articles in peer-reviewed journals and contributed to 7 book sections. Currently, she supervises 2 PhD theses and 3 MSc theses and has previously supervised 2 PhD theses and 21 MSc theses. She has received prestigious awards and honors, including the EIC Pathfinder award, the THCS - Transforming Health and Care Systems Grant, and an FCT Project under the call Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Cybersecurity of relevance to Public Administration, all in 2024. Recently, she took part in the University of Porto’s Business Ideas Competition, iUP25k, and won 3rd place with the AI4BirthCare project—an innovation designed to predict and prevent childbirth-related injuries, supporting medical decision-making. With the same project, she also won the BIP Proof award, which aims to support proof-of-concept projects that stimulate the development of promising research results towards socioeconomic valorization. Moreover, AI4BirthCare was selected for the BIP Acceleration Program, an initiative of the University of Porto that helps research teams transform their projects into viable businesses. Additionally, she was awarded the FCT Scientific Employment Stimulus in 2020, and secured national funding for a research project titled SIM4SafeBirth in 2018.
