Leonardo Anibal Hinojosa Sánchez is a researcher technician at the Institute for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics (IBED) at the University of Amsterdam. His scientific career has been focused on the study of abiotic stresses in plants under fundamental and applied research projects and the last year he has been acquiring expertise in soil biology and amplicon sequencing. He has a large experience in the physiologic and agronomic aspect of quinoa. With a degree in Agricultural Engineer (in 2009) from Central University of Ecuador and a MSc in Environmental Agrobiology (2011) from the University of Basque Country, he obtained his PhD in Crop Science (2018) at Washington State University working in the response of heat and drought stress in quinoa, evaluating different physiological and agronomic parameters in field and growth chamber conditions. After completing his PhD, he worked as a Plant Breeder Professor at the Department of Agronomy at Polytechnic School of Chimborazo (ESPOCH) in Ecuador. In the summer of 2019, he started to work as a guest researcher at the Plant Cell Biology department from the Swammerdam Institute for Life Sciences at the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, under the supervision of Dr. Teun Munnik. In 2020, he started his current job in IBEB. Leonardo Hinojosa has published in peer-reviewed journals (7), 5 as a first author and 2 as a corresponding author. Also, he has presented his results in several international meetings and has been invited to serve as a referee in peer-reviewed journals (7). During his academic career, he has supervised undergrad students (5) and master students (2).
