AM Azevedo graduated in 1996 in Chemical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) of the University of Lisbon. In 1999, she completed the MSc degree in Biochemical Engineering/Biotechnology and, in 2004, the PhD degree in Biotechnology, both at IST. In 2005, she started her post-doctoral studies and in 2008, she was hired as Research Scientist in the framework of Ciência 2007 and afterwards Investigador FCT. In 2010, she became Collaborating Lecturer at the Department of Bioengineering of IST; in 2016, Invited Assistant Professor; in 2018, Assistant Professor; and in 2022, Associate Professor. She has received 15 awards for Excellent Lecturer from the IST Pedagogical Council, including the IST Award Excellence in Teaching. She is also principal investigator of the Institute of Bioengineering and Biosciences (iBB) and Associate Laboratory, Institute for Health and Bioeconomy, where she leads the Bioseparation's Lab and coordinates several projects and PhD and MSc thesis. She has completed the supervision/co-supervision of 9 PhD students and 85 MSc students and is currently supervising 6 PhD students and 3 MSc students. Her current research interests are focused in Bioprocess Engineering, namely on the optimization, integration and intensification of bioprocess through miniaturization, high-throughput screening and continuous processing. AM Azevedo has co-authored more than 100 peer-reviewed papers with an h-index of 35 and with over 4200 citations. Her scientific network and internationalization is supported by publications with +150 distinct authors from 25 different national/international institutions. She has participated in 6 European projects and in 14 national projects; coordinated 5 research projects (2 M¿) and participated in 15 as team member, dealing with a total of 40 academic and 27 industrial partners. AM Azevedo has been part of organizing and steering committees of several international conferences namely BPP 2017, Affinity 2011, ProStab 201, ABC2 workshop, ESBES 2018, ISPPP 2021, ICB 2019 and BPP 2022. She has been session organizer in ACS-BIOT 2017, ICB IV, Recovery XIX. She has also been serving the scientific committee of several conferences, including ESBES 2018, BPP 2019, Microbiotec 2021, ISPPP 2021.
