Raquel Lobo-do-Vale completed a PhD in 2012, entitled "Carbon assimilation by Amazonian rain forest trees: seasonality, inter-annual variation, and drought". Is Assistant Researcher in Universidade de Lisboa Instituto Superior de Agronomia. She published 33 articles in journals, of which two were highly cited, with total citations of 1.485. Her h-index is 17. Organized 7 events. Co-supervised 3 MSc dissertations. Has received 3 awards and/or honours. Participates and/or participated in 10 projects and Principal investigator in 4 projects. In their professional activities interacted with 510 collaborators co-authorship of scientific papers. She is very experienced in field work, including experimental set-up and maintenance and data analysis. During the last years, the focus of her research has been on tree ecophysiology of the Mediterranean ecosystems in the context of climate change (drought, warming), both in adult trees, in the field, and in seedlings, in the greenhouse. She is currently studying the foliar water uptake of cork oak leaves and the impact of drought and shrub encroachment on Mediterranean cork oak growth and resilience. She is particularly interested in the drought effects on the water, carbon, and nutrient dynamics of Mediterranean ecosystems. She is looking forward to contributing to the improvement of sustainable management practices that promote the efficient use of water.
