Daniel G. Gomes has a Master in Biological Engineering (2009) from the University of Minho and later on a PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering (2018). His PhD research involved the study and development of enzymes recycling schemes for cellulosic ethanol production. He is currently a Post-Doc researcher at CEB-UM working on new eco-friendly technologies for the valorization of different residues form pulp&paper industry. His main current research lines refer to the valorization of lignocellulosic residues, the development of cost-effective enzymatic technologies, the design of more efficient cell factories and the economic analysis of different bioprocesses. Overall he published 17 articles, 14 of which in Q1 journals indexed in ISI/SCOPUS, accumulating an h-index of 10. He also co-supervised 1 MSc student and 2 PhD students, participated in several international scientific meetings, with 21 poster or oral presentations, and has supervised 21 individual projects of process simulation and economic analysis. He is an active referee for several journals, such as Applied Energy, Biotechnology for Biofuels and Biomass & Bioenergy.
