Sule Canberk is a pathologist and cytopathologist who completed her PhD program in Molecular Pathology and Genetics at the University of Porto, Portugal, that had granted by the national foundation of science and technology (SFRH/BD/147650/2019). During the medical faculty education, she was a visiting intern in the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich-Germany. This was followed by a residency in surgical pathology and a fellowship in Cytopathology. She has authored 76 peer-reviewed publications in leading pathology and cytopathology journals and five book chapters; she has delivered numerous lectures, workshops and short courses at international meetings, including ICC (International Cytology Congress), ECC (European Cytology Congress), AOTA (Asia and Oceania Thyroid Association), Porto Cancer meetings. She is dedicated to cytopathology, the pathology of the thyroid, and cytopathology of the lung. She had periods of observer ship in the University of Pennsylvania Cytopathology department in 2012 and 2013. Since 2016, Sule has served as an assistant professor at Acibadem University as a consultant through telepathology and telecytology. She was a dedicated member of the “Cancer Signalling and Metabolism” research group at IPATIMUP/I3S in Porto for eight years. During her PhD, Sule also served as a professor for a year teaching master’s degree student in the digital pathology discipline at Instituto Politécnico do Porto, enhancing her expertise in this innovative field. Recently, she has taken on a new role as an assistant professor in the pathology department at the Medical Faculty of Porto University, Portugal. Her research continues to focus on the genetic basis and phenotypic variation of oncocytic tumors in the thyroid. Her significant thesis project, “Molecular basis of oncocytic tumors of the Thyroid - a comprehensive study,” received funding from the national foundation of science and technology (SFRH/BD/147650/2019). Additionally, Sule has participated in courses at the European Bioinformatics Institute in Cambridge (EBI-EMBL), including "Summer Bioinformatics Course," and "Managing Bioinformatic Core Facility." Her expertise in proteomics and transcriptomics, rooted in her profound understanding of tumor biology, culminates in a specialized service termed "PathOmics."
