Daniela Dias-Pedroso has a Bachelor and Masters in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Sciences and Technology, University of Coimbra. From July 2014 to January 2017, Daniela Dias-Pedroso worked as a research fellow in the project "Mechanisms of Cardioprotection by Berries-Driven Polyphenols" (Ref ANR-FCT/BEXBCM/0001/2013), supervised by Helena L.A. Vieira (NMS/CEDOC). The work focused on polyphenols' putative modulation of cell viability, cell beating and Ca2+ signalling in rat neonatal primary cardiomyocytes. During this period, she also participated in a secondary project named "Brain adaptation to hypertension: analysis of hippocampal response in two different chronic rat models of hypertension". Hippocampal neurogenesis was assessed in Dahl Salt-sensitive and Chronic Intermittent Hypoxia-induced hypertension rat models. Daniela Dias-Pedroso developed her doctoral thesis "Carbon Monoxide - Neuroglobin axis on cytoprotection against perinatal cerebral ischemia" at NOVA Medical School, NOVA University of Lisbon, under the supervision of Helena L.A. Vieira (NMS/CEDOC) and Susana S. Lopes (NMS/CEDOC). Her project evaluated the role of neuroglobin-carbon monoxide-induced cytoprotection against inflammation, targeting cellular metabolism. She was also involved in the project "The role of ciliogenesis in carbon-monoxide induced astrocyte cytoprotection", so-supervising a master student in the scope of this work. Daniela Dias-Pedroso has 6 papers published in peer-reviewed journals, 3 of which as co-first author and 2 as first author. She was also co-first author of one conference abstract published in a peer-reviewed journal and accepted for oral communication (performed by Helena L.A Viera) and a author in 2 book chapters. Daniela Dias-Pedroso has two posters as first author accepted and presented by herself in international conferences. Daniela Dias-Pedroso is currently a postdoc at METSY - Institute Gustave Roussy, France. Her work focus on drug resistance in pediatric cancer (osteosarcoma).
