Cristina P. Vieira complete are PhD in 2001 in the field of Population genetics, at the University of Edinburgh.She is the Principal Investigator of the Evolutionary Biology Group at IBMC since 2011. She is an Associated Researcher at the i3s Phenotypic Evolution Group . She is an expert in Population genetics, Genomics, Transcriptomics, and Bioinformatics. She studies co-evolution at the molecular level using two model systems: the evolution of polyQ proteins causing degenerative diseases and the gametophytic self-incompatibility. She has 83 scientific contributions indexed in Scopus hold 1189 citations from 839 different documents (h-index=21; March 2022). She has developed several Bioinformatic tools for the efficient retrieval and processing of high quality sequence data, large scale analyses of positively selected amino acid sites, Web application tools to compare the protein interactions, and Docker images for bioinformatic software. She has supervised /co- supervised 4 PhD theses, 16 MSc dissertations and more than 24 undergrad students. She as participated in 11 Projects, being the Principal investigator in 4 .
