Vera Liane Barbosa holds a PhD degree in Environmental Sciences and Sustainability Studies by NOVA School of Science and Technology (FCT NOVA) and Master's degree in Marine Biology specialized in Marine Biotechnology by Faculty of Sciences and Technology, University of Algarve. Currently, she is a senior technician at the Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) collaborating in different research activities related with seafood quality/safety. She enrolled as Integrated Researcher at CIIMAR - Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research and Collaborator Researcher at MARE - Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre. She has participated in 6 European projects (FP7, H2020, EEA Grants), interacting with 179 collaborator(s) and co-authorship of scientific reports/literature. She authored 40 scientific papers published in peer-reviewed international journals and 2 book chapters. She also participated in more than 20 international conferences (oral and poster communications). Her main research areas are on biological sciences with emphasis on marine biology, being developing specialized knowledge in scientific and technological production and valorization of fishery and aquaculture products; quality and safety of seafood products; seafood consumption benefit-risk assessment; ecotoxicology and climate change. She also has expertise in scientific projects management, collaborating in the preparation and management of grant applications for national (Mar2020, MAR2030, PRR) and European funding programmes (H2020, EEA Grants).
