(EN)____Jorge Manuel Ferreira Morgado is Full Professor at the Department of Bioengineering (DBE) of Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) - University of Lisboa since December 30, 2015. His scientific activity, within Instituto de Telecomunicações, is focused on advanced functional materials (synthesis, characterization and application in organic electronics and optoelectronics), in particular on organic semiconductors and conductors based on conjugated polymers and oligomers. Some activity is also focused on the area of molecular electronics, making use of the scanning tunneling microscope (STM) as a characterization tool. The change from the Chemical Engineering Department to the Department of Bioengineering, in 2011, was motivated by the challenge of the use of the long studied functional materials to the area of Bioengineering. In particular, the current activity encompasses the materials applications in the Bioelectronics area, namely electrical and optical systems for cells stimulation and the development of materials and devices to record biological signals, and the application of polymeric materials for various biomedical applications. Some of these lines of action involve the collaboration with colleagues at DBE. Has published almost 180 papers in international scientific journal and various conference proceedings and co-authored three book chapters. According to ISI Web of Knowledge, index h is 35. The scientific and teaching activities were, since 2003 (with the exception of the period 2009-2012), combined with departmental management activities and also management activities of Instituto Superior Técnico. ___(PT)____Jorge Manuel Ferreira Morgado é Professor Catedrático do Departamento de Bioengenharia do Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) da Universidade de Lisboa desde 30 de dezembro de 2015. A sua actividade científica, enquadrada no Instituto de Telecomunicações, centra-se nos materiais funcionais avançados (síntese, caracterização e aplicação em electrónica e optoelectrónica orgânicas), em particular nos polímeros e oligómeros conjugados (semicondutores). Desenvolve também atividade na área da eletrónica molecular, com recurso ao Microscópio de Varrimento de Efeito de Túnel (STM) como instrumento de caracterização. A mudança do Departamento de Engenharia Química para o Departamento de Bioengenharia, ocorrida em 2011, correspondeu a um desafio de usar esses materiais funcionais nas áreas da Bioengenharia. Em particular, procura desenvolver aplicações na área da Bioelectrónica, compreendendo aqui sistemas de estímulo eléctrico e óptico de células e desenvolvimento de materiais e dispositivos de medição de sinais biológicos, além da aplicação de materiais poliméricos para várias aplicações biomédicas. Algumas destas linhas de acção estão já em desenvolvimento, através da colaboração com outros colegas do DBE. Publicou 180 artigos em revistas internacionais e várias actas (proceedings) de conferências e é ainda co-autor de três capítulos de livros. Segundo a análise no ISI Web of Knowledge, o índice h é 35. A actividade científica e pedagógica tem, desde 2003 (com um interregno entre 2009 e 2012), sido conjugada com a participação em estruturas de gestão departamentais ou do Instituto Superior Técnico.
