Research work is focused on 4 major areas: 1. Development of nanostructured hard/protective thin films of the Ti1-xSixNy system; 2. Development of colored thin films for protective and decorative applications of the MeCxOyNz system (Me = Ti, Zr, Nb, Cr, Mo, Al); 3. Development of thin films with optical activity (Surface Plasmon Resonance) of the MeOx/MN system (Me = Ti and MN = Ag and Au); 4. Application of thin film systems in the development of bio(chemical)/physical sensors, as well as bioelectrodes for biomedical applications - electroencephalography (EEG) and electrocardiogram (ECG) and prostheses. Main objectives: Study of the relationship between the deposition parameters and the basic characteristics of the materials (composition, morphology, crystalline/amorphous phases, electronic states, type of connections, etc.). Correlation between these characteristics and the properties of the materials produced (electrical, optical, mechanical and tribological) according to the intended application. I published 246/260 published articles (SCOPUS/Web of Science), some with a considerable number of references, with its scientific activity being recognized internationally. Its special concern is the training of young students, having successfully supervised several master's and doctoral theses, scientific research fellows and post-doctoral fellows. The h-index has the value 40 (SCOPUS) and 39 (Web of Science).
