Duarte Gonçalves Frade is currently a PhD student at the University of the Algarve, studying the evolution of salt tolerance in euryhaline seagrasses. Duarte holds a BSc in Aquatic Sciences (2015, highest final grade) by the University of Porto (Portugal), and a International Master in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation (2018, summa cum laude) by the University of Ghent (Belgium), the University of the Algarve (Portugal), the Sorbonne University (France), the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology (Ireland), the University of Bremen (Germany), and the University of Oviedo (Spain). He has published 6 articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals, participated in multiple scientific events, and received 2 awards for academic achievements. Additionally, he is involved as a curator or coordinator in several citizen science initiatives, including iNaturalist and marineforests.com. Duarte was also involved as a collaborator of the first Red Data Book of the Vascular Flora of Portugal, and worked on the application of data science to marine consevation in the Arrábida Marine Park, Portugal.
