Cláudia Martins concluded her PhD in Biomedical Sciences from University of Porto (Portugal) in 2023, under a partnership
with the University of Nottingham (UK) and University of Louvain (Belgium), and is currently a Junior Postdoctoral Researcher
at Institute for Research and Innovation in Health (i3S, Portugal). She was recently granted a highly competitive 6-year Postdoctoral
Contract from FCT-Individual Call to Scientific Employment Stimulus. In recent years, Cláudia Martins has taken on the role
of visiting researcher at different academia (ETH Zurich (Switzerland), Queen's University Belfast (UK), University of Nottingham
(UK), University of Louvain (Belgium)) and industrial (MyBiotech GmbH (Germany)) institutions. Some of her current areas of
interest include biomaterials, targeted cancer nanomedicine, brain drug delivery and tissue engineering. Cláudia Martins has
developed an extensive work in these areas since 2015, which resulted in a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship, 3 PI projects
(e.g., UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC)), and participation as member in 12 other R&D projects
(e.g., EU, FCT). She has so far published 26 articles in international peer reviewed journals (8 as first-author, 2 as last-author,
16 as co-author; >1052 citations, h-index 15, Scopus) and 5 book chapters (3 as first-author, 1 as last-author, 1 as co-author),
authored >45 communications in international conferences, and was awarded 21 distinctions. Examples of distinctions include
the prestigious Early Career Investigator Award from the Nano2Clinic COST Action (2019), and the Galenus Foundation Technology
Prize (2023, never awarded to a Portuguese researcher before). She is enrolled in several teaching activities (University
of Porto/University of Lisbon, Portugal) and peer-review activities in prestigious scientific journals (e.g., Acta Biomaterialia,
Advanced Science, Journal of Controlled Release). As part of her team management skills, Cláudia Martins has participated
in 3 BSc/MSc student supervisions, 9 MSc/PhD student mentorings, and in the organizing committee of 10 scientific events.
The scientific journey of Cláudia Martins has involved her participation in various societies (e.g., Controlled Release Society
(CRS), American Association for Cancer Research, European Association for Cancer Research), and transition to executive roles
in technical committees (e.g., current Chair of the CRS Young Scientist Committee). She inherently possesses a strong passion
for science outreach, which led her to the co-coordination of Pint of Science Portugal, among others.
