I am a PhD student at the University of Lisbon working on plant-herbivore interactions, in an ecological and evolutionary perspective. My work aims to shed light on the origin of variability in the ability of spider mites to suppress defences of tomato plants. Specifically, how different genetic and environmental backgrounds (ex. host plants, maternal effects and species coexistence) can influence defence suppression of spider mites. My project is inserted in an ERC project of Doctor Sara Magalhães, at Centre of Ecology, Evolution and Climatic Changes of Lisbon University, in collaboration with Doctor Alison Ducan, of Institute of Evolutionary Science of Montpellier University, and with Doctor Merijn Kant, of Institute for Biodiversity and Ecosystem Dynamics of Amsterdam University. In my spare time, you can find me travelling the world and practising Chinese martial arts, such as Kung Fu and Tai Chi.
