Federico Matias Issoglio obtained is Chemist degree in 2006/12/14 at Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, in the field of Biological Chemistry. He completed the PhD in 2014/09/04 at Centro de Investigaciones en Quimica Biológica de Córdoba (CIQUIBIC-CONICET) and Departamento de Química Biológica (Universidad Nacional de Córdoba - UNC). During this period he worked with enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of proteoglycogen, performing biochemical, biophysical and structural assays. In 2015 Federico was granted with a Postdoc position at Insituto de Química Física de los Materiales, Medio Ambiente y Energía (INQUIMAE-CONICET) and Facultad de Ciencias Exactas, Universidad de Buenos Aires (FCEN-UBA), under the supervision of Dr. Dario Estrin. For almost 4 years Federico studied proteins using computational tools, acquiring expertise in quantum chemistry, molecular dynamics simulations, molecular docking and free energy calculations. The main project involved the study of protein post-translational modifications through redox mechanisms, in collaboration with Dr. Rafael Radi (Universidad de la República). Moreover, several collaborations were carried out in diverse topics (some of those are still ongoing projects). In 2018 Federico obtained a position as a Researcher at Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (IQUIBICEN-CONICET), joining the group of Dr. Marcelo Martí at Departamento de Química Biológica (FCEN-UBA). By combining the experimental and computational skills, the projects focused on the reactions and products of reactive nitrogen and oxygen species (ROS/RNOS) with Mycobacterium tubeculosis proteins. Currently, He is a Postdoc at Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica - ITQB) where he joined the Membrane Protein Crystallography group, under the supervision of Prof. Margarida Archer. Here, Federico is studying membrane proteins form Mycobacterium tuberculosis, by determining the 3D structure using X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-electron microscopy, exploring the reactivity, and thus unraveling the mechanisms underlying its catalysis. Dr. Federico Issoglio PhD published 9 articles in indexed journals, participated in more than 20 scientific meetings, taught in laboratory courses from 2007 to 2015 at Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, and from 2016 to 2018 at University of Buenos Aires , and advised undergraduate and graduate students.
