Cristina Delerue Matos was born in Porto on the 22th of May 1959. She has the first degree in Chemistry by the Faculty of Science of the University of Porto in 1983, the PhD degree in Chemistry by Minho University in 1990 and the Habilitation in Chemistry by Minho University in 2010. She is member of Portuguese Chemical Society from 1983 and she belongs to different divisions’ namely analytical chemistry, chemistry-physics and chromatography. She is member of Portuguese Electrochemical Society from 1985. She is the Portuguese Representative in the VI Chemistry and the Environment Division of IUPAC from 2017. She is Full Professor of Chemistry at the Porto Superior Institute of Engineering (ISEP) since 1990 and vice-President for the research area of Instituto Politécnico do Porto from April 2022. At ISEP she taught chemical and environmental classes. She was the President of Scientific Board of the same institution between 2006 and 2008 and a member from 2009 till 2016. She is a member of REQUIMTE, the largest network in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering established in Portugal. Her scientific expertise allowed dealing with the topic Green Chemistry – Clean Technologies and Processes with a wide range of tools and from different perspectives. She is the Coordinator of the Environmental Chemistry research group from REQUIMTE/LAQV (https://laqv.requimte.pt/research/research-groups/111-environmental_chemistry) and of the research group: Grupo de Reação e Análises Químicas (www.graq.isep.ipp.pt/) from 2001. Besides working on various international research projects as member namely SeaFoodTomorrow- Nutritions, safe and sustainable seafood for consumers of tomorrow (H2020-BG-2017-1), SYSTEMIC – An integrated approach to the challenge of sustainable food systems: adaptive and mitigatory strategies to address climate change and malnutrition (ERA-NET ERA-HDHL, 696295) and Graphene-based semiconductor photocatalysis for a safe and sustainable water supply: an advanced technology for emerging pollutants removal (UTAP-ICDT/CTM-NAN/0025/2014), she was the coordinator of one FP7 project (FP7-PEOPLE-2013-IRSES-612545, GMOsensor-Monitoring Genetically Modified Organisms in Food and Feed by Innovative Biosensor Approaches) and more recently she is the coordinator of the ERA-NET Cofund WaterWorks2015: REWATER - Sustainable and safe water management in agriculture: Increasing the efficiency of water reuse for crop growth while protecting ecosystems, services and citizens’ welfare; BiodivRestore-406 / DivRestore/0002/2020, BioReset- Biodiversity restoration and conservation of inland water ecosystems for environmental and human well-being. She was the principal researcher of national projects in the area of environment, specifically in the area of soil remediation. She is the author of about 560 publications in international peer journals (h-index 63), 48 book chapters, 104 articles in conference proceedings and 7 articles in national magazines with peer review. She supervised 28 PhD thesis and 57 Master thesis and 14 pos-doc students.
