in 1990, relaunched in Portugal in 2009 to foster glycosciences in industry. With 356 participants from 18 countries, speakers
from academia and the companies Südzucker, Dionex, Fermentec, Glycom A/S, Hoffmann-La Roche, L’Oréal and Roquette presented
the latest findings in glycosciences, demonstarting its importance in food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, materials and other

The 1st International Meeting of the Portuguese Carbohydrate Chemistry Group (Glupor I) was held at Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian
and it was the meeting launching the Carbohydrate Chemistry Group. With 14 plenary and 12 invited lectures, the sessions
covered glycosciences with one session dedicated to sugar industry. With international participation of experts from y Portugal,
Spain, France, United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and Sweden, and from USA and Canada, Glupor I was very successful and Glupor
