Jordi Zamarreno Beas

Jordi started his undergraduate studies in Biology at the University of Barcelona (2009-2011), obtained the bachelor¿s degree in Cellular Biology at the University of Aix-Marseille (2011-2013), the MSc in Microbiology and Biotechnology at the University of Aix-Marseille (2013-2015) and the PhD in Microbiology at the University of Aix-Marseille (2015-2018). He works in the area of fundamental research in Microbiology. His PhD work resulted in 4 important contributions to the understanding the effects of drug combination leading to microbial antibiotic resistance and infection/virulence factors mechanisms, 3 journal articles (2018, 2020, 2022), 2 of which as first author, and 1 book chapter (2017). He worked as a postdoc researcher fellow, funded by a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions Individual Fellowship in the laboratory of Prof Lígia Saraiva at Instituto de Tecnologia Química e Biológica (ITQB). He is now a postdoc researcher in the laboratory of Dr Filipa Sousa at the University of Vienna. In the last 3 years as postdoc researcher resulted in the publication of 2 articles (2023, 2022) as first author, 1 review as first author (2021), and one book chapter (2022), published in high impact journals. He has mentored several undergraduate students, supervised 3 MSc dissertations and co-supervised one PhD student. He enrolled workshops such as a Scientific Writing Course (2019), Grant Writing Course (2020), TIMB3 Innovation Management and Intellectual Property Course (2021) and StartUP Research course (2022). Furthermore, he participated in the following outreach activities: Fête de la Science at the CNRS-IMM in Marseille, France (2017), ITQB Open Day in Oeiras, Portugal (2019) and European Researchers Night Oeiras, Portugal (2021). During his PhD he participated in the organisation of 2 international meeting (2023, 2018). He has presented 7 posters and 5 oral communications in international meetings and scientific retreats.
