I am a medical doctor specialized in Allergy and Clinical Immunology and, currently, I am working at the Allergy Unit of CUF Porto. I am a researcher from Patient-Centered Innovation and Technologies - PaCeIT, a research group of the Center for Health Technology and Services Research (CINTESIS). Also, I am a lecturer from the Department of Community Medicine, Information and Health Decision Sciences at Porto University Medical School (FMUP). I have been involved in 13 research projects mostly in asthma, rhinitis / chronic rhinosinusitis and mHealth technology development (e.g., AIRDOC, mINSPIRE). I have been the principal investigator in four international randomized controlled trials (including with biologics for severe asthma and chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyposis, triple inhaled therapy for moderate-severe asthma, and mite immunotherapy for allergic rhinoconjunctivitis) and sub-investigator in another six; three of these trials targeted pediatric patients. Currently, I am also the national coordinator of an international clinical trial with a biologic for patients with severe asthma. I have co-authored more than 120 publications that have been cited >2000 (Publons h-index 28). My research was recognized with 8 awards for original full papers / research protocols. I have acted as a reviewer in more than 25 journals recognized in the fields of allergy, respiratory disorders or mHealth. Currently, I am the secretary of the Asthma Interest Group of the Portuguese Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and the General Secretary of the Revista Portuguesa de Imunoalergologia.
