My career showcases a multifaceted Electrical and Computer Engineering trajectory, emphasising my research, teaching, and professional service contributions. My academic foundation, culminating in a Doctorate from the University of Porto, has been continuously strengthened through professional development. My research primarily focuses on Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), dynamically reconfigurable hardware, and fault-tolerant systems, with a recent expansion into engineering education. I have extensive experience in higher education, teaching various courses at Bachelor's and Master's levels in Portugal and abroad. My teaching portfolio encompasses diverse subjects, from digital systems to power electronics, and reflects my commitment to innovative teaching methodologies and the development of online educational content. This includes creating and delivering online materials and demonstrating my adoption of modern teaching practices. A significant aspect of my career is my active engagement in international collaborations. I have held visiting professorships at institutions such as the University College of South-Eastern Norway and Université de Limoges in France and actively participate in global research projects. I led an Erasmus European project to develop a distance learning program in embedded systems. This project successfully established the third year of a degree in Electronics and Optics for Embedded Systems, offered entirely online in English and accredited by educational authorities across multiple countries. Numerous publications in international journals and conference proceedings evidence my research productivity. I have also secured funding from various entities, including Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia. My involvement in European projects like "INSIGHT II," "EOLES," and "e-LIVES" further demonstrates my ability to collaborate effectively with international partners. My teaching activities include curricular responsibility for numerous curricular units at ISEP, spanning areas like digital systems, power electronics, and digital hardware design. Internationally, I have taught courses at institutions like the University College of South-Eastern Norway (Software/Hardware co-development of Embedded Systems) and the University of Limoges (Digital Systems). Beyond curricular teaching, I have developed training modules for companies like Yazaki Saltano, bridging the gap between academia and industry. My commitment to mentorship is reflected in my co-supervision of a PhD, supervision of 23 MSc students, and numerous undergraduate projects and internships. I have also participated in multiple academic juries at various levels, including doctoral and Master's degrees, and served as a supervisor and assessment censor for courses at foreign universities. Furthermore, I have reviewed research proposals for various funding bodies, including international organisations like the Russian Science Foundation. For 18 years, I served as the director of the Power Electronics Lab of the Electrical Department of ISEP, demonstrating my long-term leadership and management within the institution. I have actively participated in committees related to curriculum design, study program analysis, and other institutional matters. My involvement extends to selection committees for research grants and managing relationships with companies for internships. I also played a key role in establishing exchange agreements with universities in other countries and patronising professional internships for ex-students seeking accreditation. In summary, I am a highly accomplished and versatile professional with a strong electrical and computer engineering background, particularly in reconfigurable systems, fault tolerance, and digital systems. I have consistently demonstrated excellence in research, teaching, and professional service within my institution and internationally.
