Susana S Aveiro received her PhD degree in Biochemistry from the University of Aveiro in 2015. Over the last three years, she has become an omics specialist with advanced experience in proteomics and lipidomics in different biological matrices: cell lines, human cells, fungi, marine invertebrates, macro and microalgae in collaboration with different research fields like proteomics and lipidomics of health and disease as well as marine proteomics and lipidomics and has also experience in macro and microalgae glycomics. This experience allowed her to develop research with different mass spectrometers, combined with liquid and gas chromatography equipments, which allowed her to build up her knowledge and skills on experimental methodologies, informatics tools and mass spectrometry data analysis. She has advanced experience in techniques such as lipid extraction and quantification stand out; protein extraction, purification, quantification and digestion as well as lipidomics and proteomics profiles identification by bioinformatics tools. During her PhD thesis, she had the opportunity to collaborate with the College of Medicine, University of South Florida, USA and University Joseph Fourier, Grenoble, France, on optimizing protocols for microbiological cell growth, overexpression and protein purification, as well as the production of recombinant proteins by gene cloning to develop structural studies by protein NMR. She is a member of the COST Action CA 19105 EplilidNET.
