Cláudia A. Figueira is since 2018 a contracted researcher at the Association of the Instituto Superior Técnico for Research and Development (IST-ID), with affiliation to Centro de Química Estrutural (CQE), a research centre from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), in the Inorganic and Organometallic Architectures, Reactivity and Catalysis group (IOARC). She graduated in Chemical Engineering - Industry in 2007 from Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa (ISEL) and one year later, with the entry of the Bologna Process, she obtained the MSc in Chemical Engineering in the same institute, after developing her thesis principally in synthetic chemistry. In 2013 she completed her PhD in Chemical Engineering, at Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, under the supervision of Professor Pedro Teixeira Gomes, working in the field of nickel-catalysed ethylene polymerization. From 2013 to 2015 she was a research fellow firstly at CQE, IOARC group, working in the same field, and in the last year at Centro de Química-Física Molecular (CQFM), in the Optical and Multifunctional Materials (OM2) group, for the synthesis of functional materials, developing water-soluble fluorescent probes based in perylenediimide derivatives. From 2016 to 2018 she was a postdoctoral researcher at CQE, IOARC group, working in the fields of organic and organometallic chemistry. In 2017 she was a visiting research fellow at the University of Trieste, Italy, developing work on metal-catalysed copolymerization, with focus on palladium catalysts, where a collaboration was established between both the Portuguese and the Italian Inorganic research groups. Her research interests are in the fields of the synthesis of N-heterocyclic compounds and their derivatives, organometallic chemistry of nickel and palladium and metal-catalysed polymerization and copolymerization of olefins. Besides all the synthetic and catalytic knowledge acquired during her formation, she also acquired experience in several characterisation techniques, such as Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (NMR), Single Crystal X-Ray Diffraction (SCXRD), Gel Permeation Chromatography/Size Exclusion Chromatography (GPC/SEC) and Infra-red spectroscopy (FTIR). She co-authored 18 publications in specialized journals, 1 book chapter, 3 conference proceedings and have 4 registered patents. She also participated in national and international conferences, presenting 6 oral communications (1 co-authored), authored 12 poster communications, and co-authored 6 others.
