Andreia Mendes completed the Bachelor in Genetics and Biotecnology in 2011 and master in Comparative, Technological and Molecular Genetics 2013 by Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro. During her master thesis, Andreia was integrated in the international project NANOFOL, on the scope of "molecular study of Rheumatoid Arthritis". The work was performed in the “Cell activation & gene expression ” group, directer by Professor Alexandre do Carmo at the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology (IBMC) in Porto in the group . From 2013 to 2015 Andreia was a research fellow also in the group "Organelle biogenesis and function" directed by Professor Jorge Azevedo, also at IBMC. She worked on biochemical characterization of different molecules. Andreia completed Doctor of Philosophy in Biology and Immunology in 2018 by Aix-Marseille Université with the title "Role of eIF2a phosphorylation in dendritic cell biology", developed at the Centre d'Immunologie de Marseille-Luminy. Currently, she is a Researcher in the Institute of Biomedicine of Universidade de Aveiro enrolled in the IDPhagy project - Identification and characterization of novel modulators of autophagy and immunity. Andreia is a researcher Biological Sciences Researcher, specialized in cell biology and Immunology, with special interest in Dendritic cell biology, innate activation and autophagy. She works on the biology of dendritic cells and the molecular mechanisms of response to stress and microbial invasion. Andreia has published 8 papers in scientific Journals and 1 article in a local newspaper.
