In 2006, I received my Ph.D. in Evolutionary Biology from the University of Lisbon (as a visiting Ph.D. student at the Service de Systématique Moléculaire, Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle in Paris, France, and the Institute of Animal Physiology and Genetics in Libechov, Czech Republic). I am a Researcher at iMM working in clinical and translational research in the area of neurodegenerative disorders particularly, motor neuron diseases. I have over 20 years of experience in scientific research in diverse fields: i) clinical neurosciences & neurology; ii) genetics heredity; iii) computer science; iv) oncology and drug resistance; v) evolutionary biology; vi) molecular biology. I have co-authored more than 100 works including 89 indexed in Scopus, h-index = 16 (Google Scholar: h-index=18, i10=33). My work has a Research Interest Score higher than 90% of ResearchGate members. I have participated in 12 R&D projects funded by national and European agencies including, presently, a Horizon 2020 project: Brainteaser. I have been developing collaborations with a diverse network of research teams nationally and internationally. Moreover, I have technical and management expertise (data analysis, project and data management, leadership, teaching, and supervising). I was awarded one prize, four fellowships, and a Ciência 2008 contract. I am a tutor of a Ph.D. student and supervised five MSc students and several undergraduate students. I've taught in one MSc program and two PhD programs. I have been an expert reviewer for 16 international journals.
