Co-financed by the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme, BlueHuman aims at contributing to the socioeconomic development of the area by carrying out different research lines focused on the biotechnological valorization of marine products and by-products addressed to improve medicine and health. The project, led by University of Minho (3B’s Research Group) has 13 partners from different institutions, companies and research centers in Spain, Portugal, Ireland, France and UK.

Genetically improved aquaculture species are now commercially available for an increasing number of species throughout the world. However, the full potential for improvement is far from being achieved. The combination of traditional programs with biotechnology tools, including genomics and genetic engineering, is essential to reach aquaculture production goals in the near future.
