Maria do Carmo Lopes is head of Medical Physics Department at the Portuguese Institute of Oncology in Coimbra, Portugal. She is full professor at the University of Coimbra, researcher at INESC-Coimbra. Her activity covers the various fields of radiotherapy physics with particular focus on quality assurance, dosimetry and patient safety, namely in the implementation of new treatment techniques. She has acted as expert in various IAEA projects and she is active member at EFOMP and IOMP. She is Member of the European Board for the Accreditation of Medical Physics (EBAMP) and Associated Editor of the European Journal of Medical Physics, Physica Medica. She is Member of Europe Region Advisory Committee for Education and Training in Medical Physics and national counterpart within the framework of the RER6036 regional IAEA Technical Co-operation project. She is auditor of OECI Accreditation and Designation European Program and member of the Group of Scientific Experts in terms of Article 31 of the Euratom Treaty.
