Miguel Bugalho é Professor Associado no Departamento de Recursos Naturais Ambiente e Território, e Coordenador Científico e Investigador Principal no Centro de Ecologia Aplicada Prof. Baeta Neves (CEABN), do Instituto Superior de Agronomia (ISA), Universidade de Lisboa. É doutorado em Zoologia pela Universidade de Aberdeen e pelo Macaulay Land Use Research Institute, Mestre em Ecologia pela Universidade de Aberdeen no Reino Unido e Engenheiro Florestal, ramo de Gestão de Recursos Naturais, pelo Instituto Superior de Agronomia. Teve experiência de Pós-Doutoramento no Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) em Camberra, Austrália e na Nicholas School of Environment, Duke University, EUA. A principal área de investigação de Miguel Bugalho é em ecologia animal e comportamento alimentar de grandes herbívoros. Está particularmente interessado em saber como é que ruminantes domésticos e bravios utilizam as plantas e como é que as comunidades vegetais e os ecossistemas respondem às actividades alimentares destes grupos de animais. Miguel Bugalho é também membro associado e colaborador do Programa Mediterrâneo da World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), uma organização global de conservação, através da qual tem desenvolvido interesses na investigação sobre gestão sustentável dos ecossistemas florestais. Está particularmente interessado em saber como é que a gestão florestal pode ser usada com objectivos de conservação da biodiversidade e dos serviços dos ecossistemas florestais e outros ecossistemas.
