Ayman Radwan is an Investigador Auxiliar at Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT), in Aveiro, Portugal. He is also currently an invited professor (Adjunct Assistant Professor) at the department of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics (DETI) at Universidade de Aveiro. Dr. Radwan has been with IT, since January 2010. He completed his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, in 2009, at Queen's University (Canada), and his Master of Applied Science in 2003, at Carleton University (Canada). Radwan has published more than 125 peer-reviewed articles: 43 high Impact Factor (IF) journals, 2 books, 9 book chapters, in addition to 70 conference publications. He also possesses 4 filed patents, in his name, which are all funded by the Canadian giant at the time Nortel. His research lies in the area(s) of Engineering and Technology with emphasis on wireless networking. His current research interests include 5G, 6G, and beyond networking, network optimization, cloud/edge networking, energy efficiency, and IoT. Lately, his focus has shifted towards eHealth and networking for enhancement of and efficient provision of eHealth services, which is shown in his latest publications and projects. Since January 2010, he has been very active in EU collaborative projects. He was involved in 9 International joint research projects. He has an extensive experience in coordination and technical management of collaborative research projects, in the context of EU FP7, H2020, and CELTIC, among others. More concretely, he acted as the Technical Manager of the EU FP7 project "C2POWER", from Jan. 2010 till Dec. 2012. He acted as the Project coordinator of CELTIC project "Green-T", from July 2011 till June 2014. He participated in the Management team of EU H2020 Marie Curie ITN-SECRET, from Jan. 2017 till Feb. 2019. He was also the Project Coordinator of the CELTIC-PLUS project "MUSCLES", from Jan. 2017 to Dec. 2019. He managed to lead all those projects, throughout the lifetime of the projects, and has guided them to successful conclusion, by defending them at final review meetings. Currently, he is acting as the Project Coordinator of the CELTIC-NEXT project "SAFE-HOME", which is at the end of its first year. Radwan has coordinated the overall process of the proposal submission, from the raw idea, developed the project, up till the final submission. The project includes 13 international partners, from 5 different countries, including countries from outside Europe (South Korea). Radwan has also contributed to multiple successful proposal preparation, at different funding tools. He has raised more than 2.0M Euros for his own institution, in research funding, during his years at IT. He also contributed to the strategic plans of EU, towards the next program Horizon Europe, in the area of (Smart Networks in the context of NGI), by contributing to the Networld 2020 Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) 2021-2027. He is an active member in the research community, through contributions to different IEEE Technical Committees (TCs), organization of multiple events, and Special Issues in highly respected venues. He is currently an associate editor at IEEE Communications Letters and IEEE Network. He has recently been elected, as the Secretary of IEEE eHealth TC. Radwan has also acted as a guest editor in multiple Special Issues, in high ranked journals. He is an IEEE Senior Member, and is active reviewing different journals and highly respected conferences.
