Cíntia Ferreira-Pêgo is the Director of the Nutrition Science Bachelor, coordinator of the Nutrition and Well-being research domain, and an integrated member of CBIOS (Research Center for Biosciences & Health Technologies). Beyond this, she is actively shaping education and research as a member of the Pedagogical, Scientific, and University Councils at Lusófona University. Cíntia also lends her expertise to the CPLP (Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries) as part of the Advisory Observers Group on Health, Food Security, and Nutrition. She is a certified specialist in Community Nutrition and Public Health, recognized by the Order of Nutritionists, and holds pre-Bologna and post-Bologna degrees in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, a Master’s in Sports Training and Nutrition, and a PhD in Nutrition and Metabolism with International Distinction and Excellent Cum Laude classification (2016). Currently (2024-2025), Cíntia coordinates 11 curricular units (CUs), ranging from Research Methodologies to Sports Nutrition, Dietary Supplements, and other Nutrition and Dietetics related areas. Over the years, she led 21 CUs in bachelor’s, 4 in integrated master’s and 11 in master’s programs. Her mentorship shines as she supervised 1 PhD, 2 master’s, 3 integrated master’s, and 19 bachelor students. Cíntia’s research focuses on the relationship between plant-based diets, body composition, metabolic markers, and cardiovascular health. Since 2019, she published more than 40 peer-reviewed articles in international journals, 2 book chapters, and an editorial, accumulating approximately 600 citations and having an h-index of 15 (Scopus, Nov’24). Her contributions also include 74 abstracts published in indexed international journals and active involvement in 24 national and international grant proposals. She presented her work at numerous conferences, with more than 30 oral presentations and 96 posters, and participated in over 65 academic juris, including PhD defenses, master’s projects, and professional internships. Recently, in November 2024, the Project Met_BCCV (Metabolism, Body Composition and CardioVascular health), led by Cíntia Ferreira Pêgo as Principal Investigator, won the "Project of the Year - Research" award by Viver Saudável initiative.
