Ana Jacinta Soares is an Integrated Member at the Centre of Mathematics, University of Minho, and an Associate Professor at the Department of Mathematics, University of Minho. She received her Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Coimbra in 1997. Her research area is on the kinetic theory of reactive mixtures, transport equations, analysis of PDE’s, hydrodynamic limits, and mathematical modeling in biomathematics and landscape ecology. She has supervised 3 doctoral theses and 9 master theses, with 3 other doctoral theses in course. She has supervised 1 Post-Doctoral fellow in Kinetic Theory and Mathematical Biology, from Sept 2022 to August 2023, and is now supervising another Fellow, since October 2024 in Biomathematics and Optimal Control. She has participated in several research projects and has a particular interest in industrial mathematics and mathematical knowledge transfer to industry. She was the President of the Portuguese Network of Mathematics for Industry and Innovation, from December 2020 to January 2025.
