Mariana Gomes Morais has graduated in Biochemistry in 2015 and later concluded her masters in Oncology in 2017 by Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences in Oporto University. Since 2018, she is a PhD student of Biomedical Sciences Doctoral Programme in Oporto University, having been granted a FCT Grant to conduct her studies. As a biochemistry graduated and master in Oncology, the area of her scientific activity is the Life Sciences, in particular, the field of molecular oncology. I have been working in the discovery of new circulating biomarkers of prognosis related to Warburg Effect in Renal Cell Carcinoma. Currently, she is interested in the potentiation of current therapies (using new technologies such as nanoparticles) in Urological Cancers in the hope of helping overcoming resistance. She has been a reseacher in the Moletular Oncology and Viral Pathology of The Investigation Center of Portuguese Oncology Institute of Oporto from 2015. Her focus has been in Urological Cancers, namely Renal Cell Carcinoma and Prostate Cancer. During her Masters, she developed her work in Warburg Effect characterization of urological cancer in hope to find potential biomarkers to help improve clincal practice of these tumors. In the last years, her PhD work focused in the application of Warburg Effect's knowledge to potentiate nanoparticles as therapeutic strategies to revert resistance in Prostate Cancer Resistant to Castration. She has published 11 papers, 5 of which as first author and published 1 book chapter. Additionally, she co-oriented 1 master studentand is currently co-orientating 1 bachelor's student. She is currently a member of the FCT funded project NanoWar2Cancer(PTDC/MED-QUI/29800/32017).
