Rodrigo Campos Chiesse is an architect and researcher with a strong academic foundation in architecture and digital fabrication. He holds an Integrated Master’s degree in Architecture and a postgraduate specialization in Robotic Fabrication in Design, Architecture, and Construction from the University of Minho (UM). His research interests focus on computational design, digital construction processes, and sustainable participatory building systems. His Master’s thesis, entitled “(Auto)construção evolutiva por processo de design e fabrico digital” [Evolutive (self)building through digital design and fabrication], explored the potential of digital tools and fabrication methods to support adaptive and accessible self-construction. Within this context, he co-organized and participated in the Wikihouse Workshop, developed for the “Special Structures” curricular unit of the School of Architecture, Art and Design's (EAAD) Integrated Master in Architecture (MIArq) in collaboration with the ACTech Hub, emphasizing open-source construction methodologies and robotic-based design-to-fabrication systems. Currently, he is contributing to ongoing research at the Landscapes, Heritage and Territory Laboratory (Lab2PT) as part of the Rein4Concrete project, and organizing and teaching workshops on Rhinoceros 3D and Grasshopper with EAAD and the Institute of Design of Guimarães. In 2024, he took part in the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Program (BIP) KA131 titled “Digital languages for the comparative study of the historic city and the visualization of analysis models”, by University of Naples Federico II, where he received training in photogrammetry, laser scanning, and point cloud processing, enhancing his technical skills in architectural surveying and digital representation. Prior to studying architecture, he had formative studies in mechanical and computer engineering, which equipped him with both technical proficiency and a systems-oriented perspective. In addition to his academic and research activities, he served as a Student Representative on the EAAD School Council, the EAAD Pedagogical Council, and the MIArq Course Committee, reflecting his commitment to academic governance and community engagement.
