Currently undertaking a PhD in Urban Studies at the Nova University of Lisbon + ISCTE-IUL, Portugal. Masters degree in Sociology from the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto, Portugal, with a dissertation entitled "Migrations, cosmopolitanisms and city-making: an ethnographic approach to small businesses in Bonfim". Bachelors degree in Social Communication with a specialism in Journalism from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG, Brazil) in 2004. Attended modules on the Master's/PhD programme in Social Anthropology at the University of São Paulo with a focus on urban anthropology and urban ethnography. Regular participation in the Anthropology of the City Study Group (GEAC) since 2018. As a journalist, mostly dedicated to themes such as cities, urbanity and urban activism for Brazilian publications including Galileu, Vida Simples, Folha de São Paulo and Vice.com, in addition to producing content for NGOs, local governments and private companies. Worked for eight years at Abril (from 2006 to 2010) and Globo (2010 to 2014), two large publishing houses and media conglomerates in Latin America. Member of the commission for the first TEDx conference in Brazil, held in São Paulo in 2009, and of TEDx Amazônia, 2010. Took part in the Brazilian commission for the COP15 UN Climate Summit 2009, in Copenhagen. Won the Globo Journalism Award (Society and Behaviour category), and finalist in the Health category. One of the Top Three Journalists and Bloggers nominated for the 2011 GreenBest Award, the largest Brazilian sustainability award at the time. Working areas: Communication Sciences/Journalism and Social Sciences with a focus on Urban Sociology and Urban Anthropology. Main research interests: urban ethnography, production of urban space, migration, ethnoracial exclusion, global and urban inequalities.
