I am currently director of the FCCN unit of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) of Portugal, which has the mission of providing infrastructure and advanced services to the national teaching and research community. The Department for which I am responsible provides high-value services to more than 400 thousand potential users, has a budget of around 16 million euros and a team of less than 20 people. I started my professional career in 1997 at the Coordination Center of the Internet in Schools Program, which provided internet and services to over 10,000 primary and secondary schools. I took over the management of FCCN's information systems and led the re-engineering of processes and the implementation of the ERP, document management system and information systems to support the registration of domains in .pt. I accumulated the previous functions with the management of IT and internal network where I promoted relevant reforms in the network, management of services and jobs. In 2004 I took over the management of services for the education and research community, such as the emblematic and essential initiatives of the Online Knowledge Library (b-on) and Open Access Scientific Repositories of Portugal (RCAAP). In 2013, following the merger of the then autonomous FCCN with FCT, I conceived and promoted the national program for the interoperability of science management information systems (PTCRIS) which resulted in CIÊNCIAVITAE, which is now successfully used by tens of thousands of researchers. I participated in several European projects and coordinated the applications and execution of projects with SAMA support. I was a consultant for the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and I was part of the installation commission promoted by CERN for the establishment of the global initiative SCOAP3. I am a “national expert” and responsible for implementing the CPLP scientific repository project. I represented and represent the country in several national and international organizations. I am currently, among other representations, NPR (National Point of Reference) of the European Commission and national delegate of the EOSC. I am the author of two book chapters and several scientific articles. The professional career developed over the last 25 years has provided me with a diversified professional path and experiences. I am organized and methodical, focused on results and promoting excellence. I try to promote collaboration and decision making by consensus.
