Paulo Noriega, Completed the PhD in Ergonomics in 2010 by Universidade Técnica de Lisboa, MsC in Human Engineering in 2001 by Universidade do Minho and Degree in Social and Organizational Psychology in 1996 by Instituto Superior de Psicologia Aplicada (ISPA). He is Assistant Professor at Universidade de Lisboa, Faculdade de Arquitectura. Effective Investigator at Research Centre for Architecture, Urbanism and Design (CIAUD) and research colaborator in Interactive Technologies Institute and UNIDCOM/IADE. How can the environment (in a Gibsonian perspective) influence human behaviour? This initial question has guided Paulo's research interests since his degree in Psychology and Master in Human Engineering, passing through the PhD in Ergonomics until the most recent research projects in which he participated. In the research groups with whom he collaborated, they have been collecting evidence that the relationship between the environment and behaviour, is established at various levels. At more basic levels in the relationship between light, colour, optical flow and perceptual responses to the movement of others (e.g. vehicle detection while driving). At intermediate levels in the relationship between the configurations of architectural spaces and decision-making in emergency situations. And at higher levels, in the relationship between the variables of the spaces and their elements and the emotional response of the subjects. Currently Paulo is Vice-Director of ergoUX Lab (https://ergoux.fa.ulisboa.pt/), a research group lab integrated in CIAUD with research valences in Cognitive Ergonomics, Virtual Reality, Usability and UX, Emotional Design, Games and Gamification, Workspace Design, Health and Safety and Virtual Reality Concerning teaching he lectures in the bachelor's of Design (FAUL), in the Masters of Interaction Design (FAUL and FBAUL) and Graphic Design (ESART/IPCB) and in the Design PhD (FAUL). He lectures and is responsible for the curricular units of cognitive ergonomics, emotional design and neuroscience applied to design of the Interaction Design Master. He also lectures in collaboration, the curricular units of: Ergonomics in the Design Bachelor's; Interaction Design Project, Digital Games, Interfaces, Sensory Information Processing from Interaction Design Master; Cognitive and Visual Ergonomics from Graphic Design Master and; Human Centred Design from Design PhD. Paulo has supervised several master's theses in Interaction Design, Ergonomics (FMH/ULisboa) and Social and Organizational Psychology (ISCTE -IUL) and also PhD's in Design (FAUL) and Ergonomics (FMH-ULisboa). Related with associative activities he is the founder and Vice-President of ADUUX (Association of Development of Usability and UX). He also is one of the founders and organiser of the ergoUX Event, a conference for Academics, Professionals and Students of Ergonomics, Interaction Design, Usability and UX.
