Professor Ana Pombo is Associate Professor of Aquaculture at Polytechnic University of Leiria, Portugal, where she has been
lecturer since 2005. She was the Aquaculture Master Head (2012-2021) and was part of the coordination board of MARE -Polytechnic
of Leiria (2017-2020). Currently she is the coordinator of the Aquaculture and Fisheries Research Line of MARE and head of
the research group AquaMARE - Aquaculture and Marine Resources Sustainability. She is/was head in several researcher projects
as PI. She is author of several publications and her research is focused on new rearing methods for a sustainable production
of marine species and diversification in aquaculture. Evaluator of projects for national and international financing institutions,
and peer-reviewer of scientific articles in more than 40 journals. She is/was part of the editorial team of 5 scientific journals.
Currently she supervises/co-supervises 4 PhD students and 3 MSc (36 completed). She has been lecturing in the field of aquaculture,
in particular the MSc disciplines: Sustainable Aquaculture, Aquaculture, Nutrition and Feeding and Engineer and Systems Management;
and BSc disciplines: Project in Aquaculture and Fisheries, Aquaculture and Aquatic Production Technology. Her present research
interests include marine aquaculture, diversification in aquaculture, IMTA, aquaculture of low trophic species as polychaetes,
sea urchins, sea cucumbers, bivalves and macroalgae.
