From 2003 to 2007, Fábio Fernandes did his PhD on the application of biophysical methods to the study of protein-lipid and protein-drug interactions at the Instituto Superior Técnico (Lisbon) under the supervision of Dr. Manuel Prieto and Dr. Luís M. Loura. From 2007-2010 he worked as a postdoc with Prof. Dr. Erwin Neher in the Membrane Biophysics group at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, Göttingen (Germany). From 2010-2016 he worked as a Senior Postdoc at the Centro de Química Física Molecular and Institute of Nanosciences and Nanotechnologies in Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Lisbon. In 2016, he joined the Research Unit on Applied Molecular Biosciences (UCIBIO@REQUIMTE) of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa as an Auxiliary Researcher. Since 2017, he is a Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) Researcher at IST.
