J.C. Oliveira graduated in Physics from the University of Lisbon in 1994 and completed his Master¿s degree in Surface Science and Engineering in 1997. The researcher then moved to the University of Coimbra where he completed both a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2003 and a post-graduation in Online Learning in 2004. Following his PhD thesis, J.C. Oliveira research work was mostly focused on the production of state of the art tin films for wear and corrosion resistance (TiAlN, WN, CrAlN, DLCs). He participated in 12 national and international projects in this field, both scientific and industry driven. Sine 2014 the reaseracher focused its scientific activities on the development of thin films deposited by High Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering (HiPIMS). In 2015 the researcher successfully applied to the FCT researcher call with a proposal focused on the development of DLC coatings deposited by HIPIMS and he was Principal Investigator at the Faculty and Technology of the University of Coimbra from 2016 to 2019. Currently J.C oliveira is Assistant Professor at the Mechanical Department of the University of Coimbra and Integrated Reasearcher of the Center of Mechanical Engineering, Materials and Processes of the university of Coimbra (CEMMPRE). J.C. Oliveira published 63 papers in international journals, more than half of which in the best 25 % journals (Q1 quartile) in the area of Materials Science. As a result, the researcher work was cited 124 times and he has an H-index of 18 in Scopus. The researcher participated in more than 50 national and international scientific events resulting in the presentation of more than 30 oral communications, including two invited communications. During his career, J.C. Oliveira consistently developed several international collaborations, which resulted in two funded bi-lateral collaborations projects with research groups from France and Spain. Most of the publications of the researcher include foreign researchers from many nationalities. The researcher was also member of the COST Action on Highly Ionized Pulse Plasma Processes (MP0804) .
