Clara Amorim (PhD) started her research at the University of Leicester with a Master by research (MPhil, 1994) in the field of Behavioural Ecology. She then went to the University of Aberdeen where she did her PhD (1997) in acoustic communication of fish. In 1997 she got a Post-Doc position on fish bioacoustics at ISPA-Instituto Universitário (Lisbon) and she has continued to pursue this line of research since. She is currently an Associate Professor in Biological Sciences at the University of Lisbon. She has long-term experience in lecturing (1997-present), mainly Behavioural Ecology, Animal Physiology and Neurobiology courses for Biology undergraduate and master students, in different Universities (Lusofona Univ., ISPA, Univ. Lisbon). She has supervised 5 post-docs, 7 PhDs (2 ongoing), 33 Master theses (3 ongoing) and several undergraduates. Her main interests are in Behavioural Ecology, Behavioural Physiology and Conservation, with a focus in acoustic communication of fish, underwater soundscapes and the impact of anthropogenic noise on underwater soundscapes and fish fitness. She has experience in refereeing and evaluating scientific research (referee for several international scientific journals, reviewer for NSF (USA), ANR (France), etc). She is the coordinator and co-coordinator of 7 research grants (2 ongoing) and currently participates in 4 research grants at the national level and 4 internationally. She is an advisory editor for Acta Ethologica (after being an associate editor) and an editor for Bioacoustics. She was the vice-president of the Portuguese Ethological Society. She has published over 90 original papers in international peer-reviewed journals, 24 papers in conference proceedings, 5 books chapters and over 200 communications in international and national conferences, from which 33 were invited oral communications (Scopus H-index: 29). She has always enjoyed international collaborations and has worked for variable periods of time in different labs in Europe (UK, France, Greece) and in the USA (state of Virginia).
