Cátia V. Vaz is an integrated PhD member of CICS-UBI, and a founder of the ¿inSci¿ startup located at the health-technology incubator UBImedical. She obtained the BSc (2008) and MSc in Biomedical Sciences (2010) at University of Beira Interior (UBI). After an internship at the iBiTech ¿ bioMMeda research group, Ghent, Belgium (2009), Cátia was awarded a Young Scientist Fellowship (Santander Totta/ UBI Protocol), which was followed by the PhD fellowship (2011) from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). After obtaining the PhD degree, her scientific merit was recognized with the award of fellowships from Câmara Municipal Fundão and PROVERE/Centro 2020/FEDER, and by being hired as the PhD researcher of ¿ProMETAB¿ project, in which was a team member in the application for funding. Cátia was hired as Assistant Professor at UBI and at IPG. Cátia has several published papers in international peer-review journals and published abstracts. Also, she has collaborated in advanced training supervising master and PhD students, and she has been committed with the initiation of students to research as a tutor in the International Scientific Exchange Program of the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA). She was also a jury in the exam committee of BSc and MSc students in Biomedical Sciences, and also to a Biomedicine PhD. CV Vaz has experience in teaching activities of the 1st and/or 2nd cycle of studies in Biomedical Sciences, Medicine, Biotechnology, Bioengineering and Optometry and was the responsible for one Laboratory Rotation in the 3rd cycle of studies in Biomedicine. She has also acquired competences in Pedagogical Training and Animal Handling and Experimentation and in NMR. Cátia alos belonged to the coordination of the CICS-UBI Communication and Image and laboratory responsible. She founded the inSci startup, which dedicates to the organization of scientific events, scientific training, science communication and web design. Her main research interests are focused on the development of new preventive and therapeutic strategies for hormone-dependent cancers, and to contribute to the excellence of scientific communication.
