I am currently Full Professor at the Faculdade de Ciências at Universidade de Lisboa. I am affiliated to the Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies, being part of the Pole of CESAM in FCUL (CESAM - Ciências). I am also a collaborator of the Centre for Ecology, Evolution and Environmental Changes (cE3c) of the University of Lisbon (I will be full member of cE3c from 2025 onwards). I hold first degree in Biology (1988/07/01 by Universidade de Lisboa Faculdade de Ciências), and a PhD Degree in Environmental and Evolutionary Ecology (1998/07/14 in the Universidade de Glasgow, Scotland, UK). I obtained the Habilitation title in 12 September 2020 (area: Biology; Specialization: Ecology) at Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa. My main area of expertise is Ecology, using birds (mostly seabirds and shorebirds) as models. Most of my research focus on diet and feeding ecology, spatial and movement ecology, migration, community ecology and conservation in coastal and marine environments. I published more than 180 articles in journals, supervised 6 PhD thesis(es) e co-supervised 8. I have participate and/or participated as Principal investigator in 5 project(s) and as Researcher in 12 project. In my professional activities I interacted with +510 collaborator(s) co-authorship of scientific papers. In my CiênciaVitae CV the most frequent terms in the context of scientific are: Modelling; Migration; Population biology; Demography; Diet and foraging ecology; Marine Sciences and Technologies; Movement and spatial ecology. Between 2019 and 2021 I was the coordinator of the Research Group "Adaptation Biology and Ecological Progresses" of CESAM, and I am currently the coordinator of the Pole of CESAM in Faculdade de Ciências, Universidade de Lisboa. Between June 2021 and October 2022, I was vice-Coordinator of the Associated Laboratory CESAM - Center for Environmental and Marine Studies.
