Joana Barcelos e Ramos is an assistant investigator and sub-director of IITAA (Institute of Agricultural and Environmental Research and Technology), UAc. Since 2003, JBR has been developing research about phytoplankton, completing her PhD in 2009 in natural sciences awarded by the Christian-Albrechts University of Kiel (Germany) and her Licenciatura in Marine Biology in 2003 by the University of the Azores . She has published a total of 19 articles in international peer-reviewed journals, 2 book chapters. JBR has a current h-index of 12, and a total of 734+ citations (Scopus). Contracted Researcher at the University of the Azores, she is also the Vice-Presidente da Assembleia Geral of AEAI (Associação para o Estudo do Ambiente Insular). She has organized 5 events and participated in 29. Co-supervised 2 PhD thesis, 3 MSc dissertations, 1 work of course completion of LSc/BSc, and supervised several students. Has received 4 awards and/or honors. In terms of projects, Joana Barcelos e Ramos was principal investigator of 2 national projects, has participated as team member in 3 projects, 1 PhD Student Fellow, 1 as supervisor of Post-doc Fellow.
