Elsa da Piedade Chinita Soares Rodrigues

I began working as a Systems Informatics Technician at ANA, E.P. (Airports and Air Navigation), from August 1, 1991, to September 31, 1994. I developed programming in Informix-4GL, and later became part of the analysis, development, and implementation team for the Integrated Financial Management and Accounting System Project - SIGAGIP/FINANCES on VX_VMS. Subsequently, I became the manager of the same project, and at the end of September 1994, I terminated my contract with ANA E.P. Between October 1, 1994, and December 17, 1994, I taught at Secondary School No. 2 in Beja. On December 19, 1994, I joined the Polytechnic Institute of Beja, at the School of Education, where I taught various courses. After two years, I moved to the School of Technology and Management (ESTIG) of the Polytechnic Institute of Beja. From December 19, 1994, to December 18, 1997. After completing my doctorate in 2012, I became an Associate Professor on December 13, 2012, a position I still hold. In the research field, I have published several articles in peer-reviewed journals, international and national conferences, workshops, as well as a book and book chapter. I have collaborated on international and national scientific research projects, reviewed articles for journals and international and national conferences/workshops, and organized international scientific conferences. I co-supervised master's dissertations at IPBeja and participated in master's degree evaluation panels at IPBeja and the Open University. I participated in undergraduate final project evaluation panels (pre-Bologna bachelor's degrees and post-Bologna bachelor's degrees), and Higher Professional Technical Courses (TeSPs) at IPBeja. The main areas of research where I have been active are technologies applied to education, information systems, and databases. I am a member of the Research Center for Technology, Restoration, and Valorization of the Arts as a collaborating member, and the Research Center for Quality of Life as an integrated member. I am also a member of the Information Systems and Interactivity Laboratory (LabSI2) of the Engineering Department, School of Technology and Management. I have participated and am participating in various national and international research projects funded by POCH, POCI, and COMPETE 2020. In the pedagogical field and within the context of IPBeja, I have taught various subjects/curricular units in the areas of information systems, databases, and information and communication technologies. Updating the curriculum content of these subjects/curricular units has been and continues to be a constant need, considering the rapid evolution of these knowledge areas in recent decades, as well as the evolution and alteration of the degrees taught at IPBeja. Finally, from an organizational responsibility perspective, I have held positions such as: member of the Pedagogical Council of ESTIG; member of the Technical-Scientific Council of IPBeja; director of the Engineering Department; coordinator of the Distance Learning Office of IPBeja; member of the Technical-Scientific Committee of the Legal Practice, Distance Legal Practice, Computer Engineering bachelor's degree courses, among other activities

The classes I taught were to students on the computer science programme, in the advanced database course, where the knowledge to be imparted was related to data mining. It was a very rewarding experience to be with colleagues and students from a very different culture. This experience allowed me to recently welcome three students from Kosovo.
