Maria Lúcia Almeida da Silva. Degree in Applied Chemistry ¿ Organic Chemistry Branch, by Faculty of Sciences and Technology at New University of Lisbon and PhD in Chemistry from the University of Beira Interior. In 1991 she started her academic career at University of Beira Interior in the Department of Chemistry. She is Assistant Professor since 2001 at the Department of Chemistry of the Faculty of Sciences in the University of Beira Interior and she is visiting professor at the Department of Organic Chemistry of the Faculty of Sciences in the University of Granada (Spain). She is Researcher at FibEnTech - I&D Unit. Participated in several funded projects, namely Integrated Treatment of Cork Processing Wastewaters for Potential Reuse (PTDC/AGR-AAM/102042/2008); Network for the conservation and use of aromatic and medicinal plants¿ (Project AGRO 800. 8. 8.1); ReMe-diation – Resilient Mediterranean with a holistic approach to sustainable agriculture: Addressing challenges of water, soil, energy and biodiversity (PRIMA/0010/2021 (HORIZON 2020 da UE); NATBIO – Natural Biocides for Sustainable Heritage Conservation (CFPI2021/01) and NEO4Future - Nanocapsules, (nano) porous structures and/or inclusion complexes with essential oils for fibers and textile structures (POCI-01-0247-FEDER-061912). She has 33 publications in international peer reviewed journals indexed to Scopus and Web of Science databases; 6 book chapters and a several number of papers in actas of scientific meetings. She develops studies in the field of Natural Products Chemistry; Medicinal and Aromatics Plants; Chromatography (HPLC and GC-MS) and Spectroscopy (UV, IR; NMR and MS). Presently her scientific interest are the analysis and identification of natural products (extracted from plants or prepared by chemical synthesis) and application of "environmentally friendly techniques
