Jorge H. Leitão is Associate Professor with Habilitation at the Department of Bioengineering, Instituto Superior Técnico (University of Lisbon), Portugal, since 2015. His current research interests are focused on post-transcription regulation of bacterial gene expression and the roles played by small non-coding regulatory RNAs and RNA chaperones on the biology and pathogenesis of bacteria of the Burkholderia cepacia complex . Other research interests include exopolysacharide biosynthesis by Gram(-) bacteria, resistance to antimicrobials and development of novel antimicrobials, and the molecular characterization of microbial populations of ecological, industrial, and health interest.
