Elisa Pinheiro

Graduated in History, on the Faculty of Arts of the University of Lisbon (1973), I developed my professional activity in the field of teaching, research and public functions. From 1973 to 1987, high school teacher. From 1987 to 2011, Invited Assistant Professor at the University of Beira Interior, until get the retirement, in 2011. From 1987 to 2011, she was the director of the Wool Museum at the University of Beira Interior, having been co-responsible for the musealization of the Real Fábrica de Panos Nucleus (1987-1992) and responsible for the recognition and musealization interventions of the Râmolas de Sol and Real Veiga Factory (Centro de Documentação/Arquivo-Histórico and Núcleo da Industrialização dos Lanifícios) (1997 to 2010). I was Coordinator and scientific and technical responsible of several international projects, of which the following stand out: From 1997 to 2000, the transnational pilot project ARQUEOTEX (ERDF 10), aiming at creating a European network of industrial textile heritage. From 2004 to 2008, the Projects ROTA DA LÃ-TRANSLANA I and II (INTERREG III A), aimed at developing, at the peninsular level, lines of research on pastoralism and industrial heritage. I am the author of numerous scientific publications in the fields of Industrial Archeology and Industrial Heritage, Museology and History of Industry, namely: Rota da Lã TRANSLANA: Routes and marks of a border territory: Beira Interior (Portugal) and Comarca Tajo-Salor-Almonte (Spain), Covilhã: Wool Museum of the University of Beira Interior [Vol.1(2008); vol. 2 (2009)]. From 2013 to 2020 I was a Researcher at the Institute of Contemporary History, IHC, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FCSH), New University of Lisbon. From 2016 to 2019, I was part of the Working Group Heritage, Science and Technology from the State Secretariat for Science, Technology and Higher Education, being a member of the team of the Heritage Knowledge Portal. From 2018 to December 2021, I was part of the FEDER project team, IH4Future, Material culture, scientific culture: Industrial Heritage for the future (PTDC/FIS-AQM/30292/2017). Since September 2020 I am an Integrated Researcher at HTC, History, Territories and Communities, a pole at NOVA-FCSH of the Center for Functional Ecology – Science for People and the Planet – of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra. I am a member of the Strategic Council and the Curatorship Council of Covilhã's Candidacy for UNESCO Creative City in Design. I received many awards and distinctions: 2020 - Attribution of the “Notable Women” award, on the initiative of CooLabora and the Municipalities of Belmonte, Covilhã and Fundão (8 March); 2016 - Award of the Doctorate Honoris Causa by the University of Beira Interior (10 October); 2009 – Vote of praise attributed by the Rector of UBI, Prof. Doctor Manuel Jos is from Santos Silva (DR No. 121, Series II, 2009-06-25); 2006 – Professional of the Year, awarded by the Rotary Club of Covilhã; 2003 – Medal of Municipal Merit, awarded at the Public Session, on 20 October, by the Municipal Council of Covilhã; 2003 – Vote of praise proposed by the Scientific Council of UBI and unanimously approved.
